Fall has always been one of my favorite seasons in Kansas City. The weather cools down, the leaves start to change, and the city fills with traditions that bring people together. From food to music to family fun, there is so much to enjoy. Here are a few of my favorite fall festivals and events that I think capture the heart of Kansas City.

Plaza Art Fair

Every September, the Country Club Plaza transforms into one of the region’s largest art celebrations. With hundreds of artists, live music, and incredible food, this event has been a tradition for decades. I always find it inspiring to see the creativity and energy that the fair brings to the city.

American Royal World Series of Barbecue

Kansas City and barbecue go hand in hand, and this event is proof of why. Thousands of teams come together to compete in the largest barbecue competition in the world. Whether you are there to taste, compete, or just soak up the atmosphere, it is a true celebration of KC’s barbecue heritage.

Weston Applefest

Just a short drive from downtown, Weston hosts one of the most charming fall festivals in the area. Applefest has everything from apple dumplings to a parade, and it is one of my favorite ways to spend a fall day. It is also a perfect family-friendly outing if you want to enjoy the season outside the city.

Kansas City Renaissance Festival

The Renaissance Festival in Bonner Springs is another fall highlight. With themed weekends, performers, and food straight out of the Middle Ages, it is unlike anything else you will find in Kansas City. I love how it combines history, entertainment, and community in one place.

Boulevardia Fall Edition (when scheduled)

Boulevardia has become a staple for craft beer fans, and its fall edition is a newer addition that brings together breweries, food trucks, and live music. It is a fun way to explore Kansas City’s growing food and beverage scene all in one spot.

The Truth about Scott Asner: The Hidden Meaning of My Name

Today I thought I’d share a little about what my name means – and what it means to me. I know, it might sound a bit self-indulgent, but stick with me—there’s a fun story here!

“Scott” is a name with roots that trace back to the Old English and Old Norse languages. It originally referred to people from Scotland, or “Scots,” which is a nod to the rich cultural history of the Scottish Highlands.

The name Scott is derived from the Latin “Scotus,” which simply means “a Scotsman” or “a person from Scotland.” It’s a name that carries a sense of ruggedness and resilience, reflecting the hardy nature of the Scottish people.

On a personal note, I love how the name Scott is both classic and versatile. It’s easy to say, easy to spell, and it feels like it’s just the right fit for me.

To me, the name Scott represents a connection to history, a sense of identity, and a touch of tradition. It’s a small but powerfully meaningful piece of who I am, and I’m proud to carry it with me wherever I go.

As for my last name “Asner,” there isn’t much known about it. But from what I was able to find, the surname “Asner” originated in the German-speaking regions of the Austrian Empire, which was mainly situated in the Danube River Basin. Occupational surnames, such as Asner, became widespread in Germany starting in the 12th century. Asner refers to someone who worked with or sold iron.

The Asner surname can be found in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Scotland. According to Ancestry.com, in 1880, Ohio had the highest number of Asner families in the United States, with about 70% of all recorded Asners living there.

Clutter around your space can accumulate during the winter months, which are usually full of holidays, office parties and lack of motivation to clean (most likely due to lack of vitamin D). Spring is an opportunity for a personal renaissance, and what better way to begin feeling renewed and refreshed than a clean space? Take some time out of your Sunday to finally get to those chores you have been ignoring all winter long and clean your spaces! Studies such as The Mental Benefits Of A Clean Home also show that a cleaner space is coherent with a healthier mental state.

Exercise outside

Spring brings us warmer weather, which usually means more motivation to exercise outside in the sun! Start the day off right with some movement in the sun outside. I personally like to go for a walk around my local neighborhood, then grab a cup of coffee before heading home.

Meditation

Meditation is a great way to begin or end your day, according to Headspace. Studies show that just one hour a day will lower blood pressure, provide better sleep quality and improve mental clarity. Another benefit is improving your overall immune system while decreasing stress on your nervous system. It’s a great way to head into the busy summer months!

Meal Prepping

Done with the winter kitchen mess? Then try your hand at meal prepping. As summer looms around the corner and the weather gets warmer, you’re likely to get busier with in-person work meetings, outdoor social gatherings and travel. Just don’t skimp on proper nutrition. Cheap options like fast food are a bad option. Try taking a day out of your weekend to meal prep for the week so you have healthy and balanced meals for the days ahead. This will save time during the week and help you stay healthy for the summer!

Hi everyone! Scott Asner here! It sure is an exciting day to be a Chiefs fan! The Kansas City Chiefs took the field by storm on Feb. 11^th and devastated their opponents with a 25-22 resounding Super Bowl victory.

From the onset of the season, the Chiefs faced formidable opponents and daunting challenges. However, their unwavering resolve, enduring fortitude, and shrewd tactics brought them to a huge win, reflecting the strategic genius by their head coach.

Strategic Mastery and Tactical Artistry

The Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory was a masterclass in football strategy. Just as a maestro conducts a symphony, head coach Andy Reid’s astute play-calling and strategy planning created a performance worthy of admiration. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes orchestrated the offence, showcasing the technical and tactical proficiency.

Unyielding Defense and Composure

The Chiefs’ defense demonstrated unwavering composure, repelling their opponents with tactical precision and grit. Their defensive unit harmonized flawlessly, thwarting the opposition’s advances at every turn.
